Discuss Traditional Approaches to Leadership
PART 1
Prepare a handout that will compare and contrast the traditional leadership theories. The audience for your handout includes undergraduate students who are studying business at a major university. Your objective for the handout is to provide a summary and analysis of trait, behavior, and situational approaches to studying leadership.
Prepare a document that covers the following:
• A description of trait, behavior, and situational approaches to leadership
• A brief summary of the empirical research conducted for each leadership approach
• An analysis comparing and contrasting these three approaches to leadership
• Recommendations for future research that could be conducted to study each approach (for a total of at least three research ideas, one per approach)
Length: 3 pages, not including title and reference pages

Below you are presented with three workplace challenges. For each challenge, you will:
• Apply one of the leadership theories to resolve each challenge (apply only one theory per challenge – transformational leadership, charismatic leadership, or leader-member exchange).
• Describe the key principles of the theory you chose to apply.
• Discuss how the approach could be applied to resolve the leadership challenges.
Scenario 1: The prominent leader of an organization was recently terminated due to charges of fraud and embezzlement. A new leader must take over in this crisis situation. What leadership theory could be applied to help this individual lead effectively in this situation? Be sure to share specific strategies based on your chosen theory.
Scenario 2: A young manager has been using rewards to motivate subordinates to complete their work in a timely manner; however, this has caused a culture of competition and ill-will amongst employees. The manager wishes to become a leader and create a more collaborative culture in her workplace. What leadership theory could be applied to help this manager develop the qualities of a leader? Be sure to share specific strategies based on your chosen theory.
Scenario 3: A work team is performing poorly. It was recently discovered that the team leader has low-quality relationships with many of his subordinates. What leadership theory could be applied to help this individual enhance his team’s dynamics and performance? Be sure to share specific strategies based on your chosen theory.
Length: 3, one-page responses, not including title and reference pages. Combine your three responses into one paper for submission. Use APA 7 formatted headings to label each response.
