We humans could dream of living sheeps and electric sheeps, and so could androids.
However, androids won’t be dreaming, unless somebody will put that in the design of their brains. Which is unlikely, because it wouldn’t give any advantage or better performance introducing such a thing into their system.
But it may also happen that they will need to dream, or it will be some kind of “bug”, exactly like it happens with humans.
Last but not least, the title means to ask the reader where the distinction between a sentient system and a human being begins.
If an android can dream, is it then practically human?
Or is it considerable human even if it is not dreaming?
How much a system needs to be similar to a human, so that it won’t be considered a machine anymore?
If a system wants to keep existing, and so can feel pain and fear, should it be considered a living being?
This is what the title means.
