FEMS Microbiology Letters has been publishing letters and short communications since 1977, highlighting topics of general interest and new developments in microbiology. As a subscription journal it is free to publish in FEMS Microbiology Letters, and the option to publish open access is available.

FEMS Microbes is new fully gold open access journal covering all aspects of basic and applied microbiology. It includes research articles, commentaries, reviews, as well as methodological advancements that are of general interest to a wide audience. All microbes, including bacteria, archaea, single-celled protists and parasites, fungi and viruses are covered. FEMS Microbes accepts transfer papers initially submitted to other FEMS journals. The journal is fully gold open access and all articles are free to read.
