Step 1
Write a Plan of Approach in accordance with the book Project Management by Roel Grit.
a. Also study the online information associated with the book.
b. Make your approach SMART: it must be Specific, Measurable, Acceptable, Realistic (also seen in
time) and Time (planning).
c. Take a good look at what you can and cannot do in the time given for this module.
d. Define the final level: when are the outcomes of this module successful for you?
Step 2
Conduct a Preliminary Investigation into the 4 options described above. Then make an informed choice
from one of these four options. These are the conclusions and recommendations of the Preliminary
Investigation.
a. Investigate the components shell construction, finishing, installation and installations first separately and then integrated.
b. In the Preliminary Investigation, the discussed theory must be compared with your own research:
what did and did not match? The student must do a thorough research into the constructiontechnical and installation-technical consequences of the 4 options, and analyze them, compare
them and come to conclusions and recommendations.
c. Which solutions can you choose and why? Do literature research (desk research) into the different
methods. This may be done traditionally or via the internet, with reference to the source.
d. To make choices you can use the MCA: Multi Criteria Analysis, this is not mandatory, but
recommended.
e. In the evaluation and reflection it can be checked whether those choices have been wise in
retrospect.
f. Describe on 1 A4 why which construction method has been chosen in relation to the time schedule and finances (budget).
Step 3
Present the Plan of Approach and the Preliminary Survey as a PowerPoint presentation during the
practical day. Incorporate the feedback from the teacher(s) given on this day in the paper.
Step 4
On the basis of steps 1 to 3 and the feedback received, make a Building Technical Design (VO+) of the
design you have chosen. This design is preferably developed in Revit (or an equivalent BIM program).
However, the drawings must be submitted as PDFs in A3 format. The VO+ must contain the following
components:
a. floor plans, sections and facades scale 1a200 of the entire building, so including any parking
garage, etc.
b. 3D model of the entire building, with renders/perspectives.
